Kapa Haka

I walked through the school gates ready to perform at my best. I carried my dress to the hall bathrooms and got changed. I ran to Koka Barb to get my moko stamped on my face. With pressure I pushed forward so I could get as much ink as possible onto my chin. A yellow feather got placed in my hair.

We were at alert level 2 so no parents could come and watch. Matua Canaan yelled "camera are rolling." A wave of excitement gushed through my body. The kaia yelled the first command and we sung as confidently and loud as we could.

I was really proud of my rupu because we learnt three new songs and covid hit so we didn't have much time to practice. My favourite song was definitely Kapana because the girls got to be strong for once. All the boys supported the girls with the singing.

Overall I feel that we were relaxed, confident and loud. It was so fun dressing up and performing. I think we did an amazing job and performed at our best. I can't wait to see the video.

Green Team

Reduce,Reuse, Recycle. We were at Ilminster intermediate watching the Green Team perform. We were sitting in the bleachers with our excitement levels through the roof. Nanny Kora told are twisting and turning story. She put her moko to bed. Begging on their hands and knees she told a story about how she save the aliens.

The kids walked out with skateboards and bikes. But soon after they left, the aliens came. They turned the skate bowl into a rubbish dump. Putting some kind of electric field on the rubbish no one could pick it up.

The kids came back excited to try their new tricks but that didn't happen because all the rubbish had already been dumped. They tried to touch it but it electrocuted them. They ran to Nanny Kora to tell her about the mishap, so Nanny Kora helped.

Overall this play was funny and had a great storyline. I enjoyed all of the singing and dancing. I didn't get bored once. I think they put a lot of work into the play. No one looked scared to perform. The Green Team did a great job.

Speech Finals

A rush of excitement went through my body.  All of the speech finalists got to sit on chairs. I was a little bit discouraged because everyone's speeches were impeccable. Y6 finalists were Finn, Rio, Ella, and me.  I stumble on one of my words but that's ok.

I memorised my whole speech. Everyone had finished their speeches, so now was time to see who won. Y4 winner... Izzy. Y5 winner...  Bridie. Last but not least Y6 winner... Charlotte. I have done it. I WON. When I got home I could not stop thinking about it.

BEDMAS

In my maths workshop I have been learning about BEDMAS. BEDMAS stands for Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. I found it tricky at first but it got easier the more I practiced. You have to work it out in the order of the bedmas. This means check if their are any brackets then exponents and so on. Here is an example.

Going for Gold Speech

Going for Gold is our speech topic. It is a pretty open subject because you could do Olympics, Green Gold, Sport and more. My topic is Lisa Adams. I don't want to spoil the rest so I hope you enjoy.

Artist Study

For Artist Study there are four groups and all different styles. I am in Pete Cromer's group.  We are doing native animals. I have decided that I am doing a Pukeko or a Piwakawaka. Here is some examples of what Pete cromer does on the slide.
